About the Lab
AHS visits the 09/10 PBS National Convention
::::PBS trains students to make media that matters by channeling students’ love of media into meaningful classroom learning. The innovative program engages students nationwide using digital video and online collaborative tools. Today’s young people are “digital natives,” at ease with a kaleidoscope of technologies used to create and disseminate media. But do they know good media from bad? Because an informed society plays a critical role in a democracy, we all need to help students evaluate information and develop skills to become engaged citizens. PBS NewsHour’s Student Reporting Lab turns teenagers into video journalists, using powerful web tools and community resources to share serious news stories with a national audience.
Every other friday, (and usually more than that), Lynn Boswell and Erika Aguilar come and work with the Advanced A/V production class and help them to produce stories for the PBS NewsHour. Read more about them here
